Milton Berle (1908 – 2002) was an American comedian and actor. He started his career in silent films as a child actor and then appeared in radio shows, then movies and television. Berle was one of the first great celebrities of television’s golden age. He was born to a relatively poor, Jewish family in a time where antisemitism was unavoidable. He is remembered for his golden sense of humor and bright and shiny outlook.
